The North Face Advanced Mountain Kit (AMK) Event Launch

When The North Face launched their Advanced Mountain Kit, a new pinnacle range of alpine clothing, I joined their special, weekend-long launch event in Chamonix, France. I hosted their renowned “speaker series”, interviewing David Goettler, one of the lead athletes in the development programme, and product expert Adrian Martinez, for a live audience of invited retailers and athletes, plus also for an online livestream of TNF fans, all produced by Cut Media.

I adopted my favoured approach as a speaker, peppering technical chat with appropriate wisecracks and, especially when it came to David recounting his stories of life above 8000m, creating space for moments of wisdom along the way. It was a fun and absolutely fascinating chat, with Adrian explaining the design team’s approach and David sharing anecdotes from breathtaking adventures. We heard about the collaborative process between the two in creating the new standard for advanced alpine kit, and I queried as to whether David is ever tempted to push someone out of a particularly long queue on any particularly busy mountains…

The next day was spent climbing around the Mont Blanc area with team TNF!
